Voletarium

In the summer of 2017 Europa-Park has opened 'Voletarium'. For this 'Flying theater' I was able to design multiple signs and show set graphics in and around the attraction. The story of the attraction is about two German aviating pioneers around the19th century who were part of the "ACE" (Adventure Club Europe) and you're visiting their old workshop and you'll find all kinds of reference that relate to exploring. Eventually you'll step aboard a flying machine that will take you across Europe.

The attraction is part of the German area. Because the style was based on German architecture from the 19th century, it has lots of forged metal and relief ornamented signs. A great opportunity to design were the classic tapestries in the queue-line. These large tapestries are based on stories from the "ACE".

To fix the already existing logo of Voletarium, I was asked to design the entrance gate and ride time signs. The gate which is a 4,5 meter high ornamented metal gate is based on typical 19th century forged metal decoration which were seen at shop signs or hotels. The shape of the gate also evokes flying because of the metal pointing outwards in every direction and has feather-like details.
